Award-winning Tamale-based rap sensation, Maccasio, has disclosed that his 69 Fans Army is going at length to make sure he wins the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year. Maccasio’s ‘Dagomba Girl’ has been nominated together with Stonebwoy’s ‘Top Skanka’, Samini’s ‘Obaa’ and Shatta Wale’s ‘Gringo’ in a category many have described as highly competitive. Being the only debutant among A-list artistes in the category, the 2018 3 Music Awards New Act winner will need some ‘magic’ to pull through. But he is confident that as far as the public voting is concerned, he has huge support coming through, including fans who are selling their properties to vote for him. “My people are voting, someone sold his television set to vote for me, everyday thousands of votes, people are sending me money sending me credit to give people to vote” He is, however, worried that he may not be the favourite of the board and the academy who together have a 60% say in who wins the award.
