The election of board members for the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) has been postponed to March 8 to give members of the organisation enough time to fully participate in the elections. The decision to extend the election date was taken at the meeting of the Election Management Committee of GHAMRO on February 2. The election was originally fixed for February 22. “After careful consideration of the processes involved, the Committee has decided to extend the whole timetable by extra fourteen (14) days to ensure that GHAMRO members have the opportunity to fully participate in the elections,” a statement issued Monday said. GHAMRO is the sole Ghanaian copyright entity licenced by law to undertake collective rights management for musical works, sound recordings and performances. The voting centres of Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi, Bolgatanga, Northern Volta, Wa, and Tamale however remain unchanged, the statement said. The Committee is expected to hold a news conference Wednesday to inform members of the brief the media on the activities associated with the electoral processes.
