Nobody will die again in Bimbilla – Akufo-Addo declares

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced that the 10 persons that died in the recent chieftaincy clashes in Bimbila in the Nanumba-North District of Northern Region will be the last of its kind under his governance. The president has also assured non-interference of government in chieftaincy issues as they are the preserved of tradition. The president’s message was conveyed to the Regent of Bimbilla, Yelimbogu Na Andani Dasana, as well as his elders and the people of Bimbilla by the Interior Minister Ambrose Dery during a visit by government delegation to the area. Meanwhile, the Interior Minister has stated that no miscreants will be shielded under the Akufo-Addo-led government Ambrose Dery entreated residents to provide intelligence that will lead to swift intervention of security to forestall any disaster. The government delegation, which arrived inBimbilla on Tuesday, also encouraged residents to allow children to return to school. They also called on officials of the Bimbilla District Hospital to continue running the facility for the sake of people’s lives. Other members of the delegation include Defense Minister Dominic Nitiwul, and Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister Madam Hafiza Otiko Djaba. The delegation would among other things unravel the cause of the recent clashes between feuding factions – Salifu Dawuni and Andani Dasana of the Gurmayili family of Nanum – that led to the death of 10 people including children.
