Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie, who has posthumously featured Bob Marley, details how growth has impacted how he views certain activities in the music industry.
In a resurfaced interview with OnePlayAfrican, Sarkodie talks about how different milestones constituted pivotal points in his career. Citing his first performance, first hit song, first collaboration, and first award as achievements in his musical journey, Sarkodie noted that his priorities have changed over time, but his fans may still be clouting for that which he has no interest in.
“There are highs at every level. Being on a platform performing, that was a high. Having a hit song on the radio, that was a high. Collaborations, that was a high. Awards, that was a high.
“At this point, the sad news, which is the truth, is that my high is not really there. I can see the fans still stuck on certain things they want me to do. The fans want me to do stuff that, honestly, personally, I don’t find fun in it. They talk about collaborations and others.”
Sarkodie also added that he has reached a pinnacle where he allows progress to come naturally without aggression. He mentioned that with hard work coupled with being in certain circles, he does not fret about certain things in the music space. Adding that at his level, no artiste can make him act out of character with the promise of a feature.
“At this point, no matter who it is, I won’t get sleepless nights because they said this person wants to do a song with me. At this point, it’s not going to feel the same.”

Sarkodie recently bagged a feature with Bob Marley and the Wailers on the new version of Stir it Up. This history-making music is scheduled to drop tomorrow, Friday, December 20.
