Afua Asantewaa Aduonum credits Nigerian Chef Hilda Baci’s Guinness World Record (GWR) achievement as the driving force behind her decision to attempt the longest singing marathon in the GWR.

Aduonum embarked on her sing-a-thon challenge on Christmas Eve and successfully concluded on Friday, December 29, 2023, after an impressive 126 hours and 52 minutes.

In an exclusive interview on TV3’s New Day, Aduonum expressed her admiration for Hilda Baci’s record-setting cook-a-thon of 93 hours and 11 minutes in May, stating, “I do not like being comfortable. When I saw Hilda’s attempt, I was like wow, it is an empowerment bit from her end regardless of the result. She really empowered me and inspired me.”

Aduonum revealed that her decision to pursue a GWR was driven by her desire not only to challenge herself but also to contribute something meaningful to her country. After exploring the list of records, she recognised her passion for music and decided to pursue a singing record.

“I love music and I listen to entertainment reviews a lot, and I love entertainment personally. Going through their records, I was looking for something that could benefit anything around my country,” she explained.
