Pump action guns importation raises concerns
The Head of Programmes for the Africa Centre for Security Counter Terrorism, Sulley Ibrahim, has warned that the importation of 1,575 guns poses a far more security threat than perceived. A consignment of handguns and gauge pump action guns were cleared at the Tema Port but seized last week, an incident which whistleblowers initially suspected was illegal. Upon further interrogation, the police said the guns were legally imported, but the Africa Centre for Security Encounter Terrorism insists the Interior Ministry must come clear to allay any fears.
