President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has nominated the head of the Biochemistry and Biotechnology Department of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Professor Peter Twumasi, as the new Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA). Prof Twumasi is expected to replace Robert Sarfo-Mensah, who is said to have resigned. Mr Sarfo-Mensah was suspended in the aftermath of the Gold Coast 2018 visa scandal. He was also seen in the Number 12 investigative report of Anas Aremeyaw Anas. In a statement signed by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Isaac Kwame Asiamah, on Wednesday, Abdul Majeed Bawa will return to his position as Acting Deputy Director General. He was acting in the absence of Mr Sarfo-Mensah. “In view of this, the necessary steps will be taken to regularize the appointment of Prof. Peter Twumasi in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Constitution and the Sports Act, 2016 (934.” Source: editors.3news.com|Ghana
