Popular Akan Drama star 'Kuntu' commits suicide

Popular Akan Drama star Kuntu Blankson, born Daniel Yeboah, has hanged himself to death in his home at Brafouwa in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District of the Central Region. Mr. Yeboah who was a member of the former Adehye Drama Troupe, was found hanged to the ceiling of his kitchen Thursday at about 5:00am by his grandson, his wife Grace Yeboah confirmed to Onua FM.

The body of the 63-year-old man who was a laboratory technician at the Cape Coast University Hospital has since been retrieved by the Police to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital. Wife of the deceased told Onua FM that as at the time of going to bed at about 11:30pm Wednesday, Kuntu was okay, noting before retiring to bed, she and Kuntu were watching some of the actor’s old concert party videos. According to her, she was not feeling well and complained to Kuntu who went to buy medication for her to take. She said after some time, she started feeling dizzy hence decided to sleep. Mrs. Yeboah said whenever she opened her eyes,  she saw Kuntu moving in and out of their room so she asked him what the problem was but Kuntu said he only wanted to take some fresh air outside.

She said she was still sleeping when she heard her grandson shouting “grandmother, grandmother” at about 5:00am  Thursday only to wake up to the news that Kuntu has been found hanged in his kitchen. Asked whether there has been any misunderstanding between her and Kuntu or any relative, she answered in the negative. She however said Kuntu at returned home Sunday from a funeral in his hometown drunk and while they were asleep, the actor had an attack and was consequently rushed to hospital where he was given drips before he regained his consciousness.
