Photos: Pump action guns, cartridges impounded in Gambaga
The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested six persons alleged to have smuggled cache of weapons into the region. They were onboard a Nissan patrol vehicle with registration Number GE 5433- 16 that was intercepted at 10:30 am on Friday at Gambaga. According to the police, the six, including the driver and one female were from Tamale heading towards Namong, a community in the Bunkpurugu-Yunyoo district When a search was conducted on them, six (6) pump action guns and 130 cartridges were retrieved from the suspects. The six have been detained. Though the intention of the suspects is not known, there have been pockets of deadly ethnic conflicts in the region.
