NPP delegate collapses and dies after voting at Ablekuma South

A New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegate has collapsed and died Saturday in the party’s parliamentary primary at Ablekuma South in the Greater Accra Region. Jonathan Nii Otoo Ankrah collapsed at the Korle-Bu Police Station where the constituency primary is currently underway. He was rushed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly. It is unclear what caused the middle aged man to collapse but some delegates at the event grounds say he was fine. “What everybody is saying is that there was nothing wrong with him. He had finished voting and was standing very close to the roadside when he collapsed,” our correspondent Adwoa Adobea-Owusu reported. Ankrah, who collapsed at about 1:30 p.m., had finished casting his vote was said to be hanging around the venue for the declaration of the results. Ablekuma South Constituency Organiser of NPP, Abel Banini confirmed to editors.3news.com a while ago that the deceased is indeed a delegate of the party but could not tell what caused him to collapse. “We don’t know exactly what happened to him,” Banini said “but all of a sudden we saw him fell down and then some of the guys took him to the hospital. Before we got there we learnt he has passed away”. He said they “don’t know what exactly happened. He is one of our delegates; executive from New Era at Kamara”. By editors.3news.com|Ghana
