The Concern Drivers Association of Ghana has disapproved of the newly proposed transport fares as they demand a 20 percent increment rather than 13 percent.

From Saturday, June 5, the 13 percent transport fare increase will be effective.

In a statement issued by transport operators on Wednesday, June 2, the increment is to enable drivers accommodate the increase in the prices of fuel and other related petroleum products and spare parts.

But speaking on Akoma FM‘s current affairs and political show GhanAkoma on Thursday, spokesperson for True Drivers Association David Agboado told host of the show Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin that “the 13 percent is nothing better to write home about because it’s too small so we True Drivers will increase our fare and peg it at 20 percent to ensure our drivers do not run at loss.”

Despite the proposed 13 percent scale-up, True Drivers Association says it doesn’t sit well with them.

Mr Agboado further explained that “the alarming rate at which fuel has been increased, the 13 percent increase on fares will not suffice our losses, so we have met all our drivers, effective Saturday, June 5, we will not go by the 13 percent, rather 20 percent”.
