We should go into 2016 better placed than in 2012 – Mahama to appointees

President John Dramani Mahama says his government has delivered on most of its promises to the extent that some even take him aback, stressing that that will guarantee his win in this year’s elections.

“I feel very proud. Sometimes, I don’t know we did it. We go into a community and the chief is praising you to high heavens for some school or some clinic I didn’t even know had been put there.”

President Mahama expressed this optimism on Friday at the start of a two-day retreat with his appointees in the Volta Region capital of Ho.

He said the current criticism from the opposition that his government has incurred huge debt is the same that confronted Kwame Nkrumah in the 1960s when he expended on infrastructural projects such as the Akosombo Dam.

He stressed that “we have done sufficient”.

“In 2016 we should have been going in in a better place than we did in 2012 because there is a track record to point at. There are things that we have delivered.”

He said the recently launched green book of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Accounting To The People, was even not enough to contain the achievements of the party.

“We couldn’t put everything in there,” he emphasized.

President Mahama expressed confidence in winning the 2016 elections: “We will win this election. I am confident that we will win this election.”
