The Christian Council of Ghana says most of the leaders at various facets of the Ghanaian society are just occupying positions.

“In 2016, we need our leaders not to just occupy positions but achieve tangible results that transform the lives of the people they lead,” the interdenominational Christian organization stated in a New Year message on Sunday, January 3.

A press release signed by the Council’s General Secretary, Rev. Dr Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, asked Ghanaians not to vote for politicians who are popular but to vote for those who have the capacity to lead and perform.

“In this New Year, we need leaders who will talk less but deliver the needed results we need as a people and nation.”

It also called for attitudinal change on the part of all Ghanaians in 2016.

“As Ghanaians, we must also change our approach towards work. We must work hard and develop sound work ethics in the New Year. We must give the needed dedication and seriousness to our work and strive for excellence in our various professions.”

On this year’s general elections, the Council insisted that “we must resolve to ensure that we have a peaceful and credible election.”
