The Deputy Northern Regional Minister and Member of Parliament for the Bunkpurugu Constituency, Solomon Boar insists there is relative calm in the Nanduni, Nabruk, and Nabrumu communities in the Chereponi and Saboba districts of the Northern Region following reports of deadly renewed clashes. His claims come after a group of Chokosi arrived at the Northern Regional Coordinating Council to register their displeasure at what they described as neglect by the Regional Security Council to the plight of people in the communities under siege. Also known as the Anofos, the Chokosi community in Tamale say they have observed the ongoing unrest in parts of  Chereponi is targeted at Chokosis as communities torched are populated by Chokosis. They intimated that the attack is fast advancing so lives and property must be protected. The group lamented that the level of destruction is alarming hence the move to meet leadership of the Security Council. Meanwhile, Mr. Boar who is a member of the Northern Regional Security Council says lives would be protected. “Enough security officers have been dispatched there and there is calm with residents going about their daily work,” he claimed. But the leader of the Anofo community in Tamale Dr. Solomon Gumanga has a contrary view. “We are not impressed with the security deployed to the area. They are on the road and the communities are burning because they are not enough” he said. He wants the intervention of the Defense Minister Dominic Nitiwul to resolve the issue. “The Defence Minister is one of them and we haven’t heard anything from him yet. We know he is working hard but he has to be fast about this,” he added.
