As part of measures to ensure that the 2021 Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) is free of malpractices and leakages, the West African Examination Council (WAEC) says it has instituted some measures to halt cheating.
One of the measures, according to WAEC, is the building of WAEC depots closer to the examination centres where the examination papers would be kept.
The 2021 BECE starts Monday, November 15, 2021, and ends on Friday, November 19, 2021.
There are 2,158 designated centres across the country where all the 571,894 candidates will sit for the examination.
The Head of Public Affairs at the West African Examination Council, Agnes Teye Cudjoe, in an interview with 3FM’s Sunrise hosted by Alfred Ocansey on Thursday explained that “we have done a few things differently this time around”.
“We have opened more depots for the distribution of our papers so that they would be closer to the centres”.
Madam Cudjoe said they have also engaged the security services to help them with the surveillance of the centres.
“We have the National Intelligence bureau to help us with surveillance at the centres so we are trusting that everything will go as planned. They will help us with intelligent”.
Madam Cudjoe said WAEC does not have any special arrangement for those affected by the tidal waves in the three constituencies of the Volta Region.
