Rotary International District 9104 honors HRM Otumfuo

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has received the Paul Harris Fellowship award from the Rotary International in recognition of his demonstrable interest in the promotion of development.

Rotarians and large crowd of people watched the ceremony which coincided with the first conference of Rotary District 9104 in Kumasi.

Rotarians from across the globe including United States of America, Benin, Togo, Nigeria and others attended the event.

Asantehene was inducted as a Paul Harris Fellow, a recognition in acknowledgement of individuals who contribute or who have contributed $1,000 in their name to the Rotary Foundation.

Addressing the gathering, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, acknowledged the significant achievements of Rotary club in Ghana.

“Rotary International has long been pillar of hope exemplifying steadfast commitment to humanitarian service worldwide.

Here in Ghana, the Rotary Club initiatives have addressed critical needs and laying the foundations for a brighter future. Fight against Polio led by Rotary Club has marked significant victory in Ghana. These critical initiatives underscore Rotary’s commitment to a healthier future for our nation.

Rotary’s focus on providing sustainable water solutions and improving sanitation have transform many lives. In the field of education, Rotary’s efforts to construct schools, award scholarships and support literacy has open hope and opportunity for Ghanaian youth. This investment is pivotal in empowering our future leaders”, he said.

The First District Governor of District 9104, David Osei Amankwah, who read a citation accompanying the award, the highest bestowed on any Rotarian, expressed appreciation to Asantehene for his assistance towards improving relations among the people of the world.

He reiterated their commitment to support development in the country.

“We are ordinarily people doing extra things. We come together to provide things”, he stated.
