The Western Nzema Youth League has thrown its weight behind Parliament for passing the Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill 2021, popularly referred to as an anti-LGBTQ+ bill.

The youth group also commended the proponents of the bill, which is yet to be enacted into law.

“The proponents of this law have done well and they should be recognized for their hard work. The good values of our country regarding family and sexuality should be protected, guarded, and defended at all costs,” the group said in a statement.

“Whilst we respect everyone and the sexuality of people, we disagree entirely with those who think that this so-called sexual preference of some people should be openly accepted as normal and a choice.  We disagree and nothing can convince me about it,” the statement added.

They further maintained that “whites are different from blacks in so many ways and our lifestyle in many ways also differ.”

“Even though we are all human beings, the truth is we are not the same. Thus, it cannot be that whatever some people in this world want to promote, we in Ghana must also do same,” the statement underscored, adding, “Ghana will not accept LGBT and we will always defend our time-tested values, culture and our beliefs.”

The youth group also acknowledged the global reactions and messages of threats from the USA and some Western countries on the effects of the bill on Ghana’s economy.

“They [Western countries] would threaten [Ghana] because they think we are incapable of running our own affairs and that we would always rely on them.

“But let me tell you and them that they are mistaken. Things are going to change and it is going to change very soon,” the group emphasised.

However, the group encouraged Ghanaians not to be afraid of doing the right thing, indicating that “North Korea is thriving despite thousands of sanctions. Russia is booming in its economy despite numerous sanctions.”

The group therefore called on Ghanaian leaders to move away from their usual ways of doing things, since ideas and different ways to develop the country abound.

WE ARE NOT THREATENED BY THE PASSAGE OF THE ANTI-LGBT LAW, GHANA SHALL PROSPER.

We are glad that the Anti LGBT Bill has been passed into law. Whilst we respect everyone and the sexuality of people we disagree entirely with those who think that this so called sexual preferences of some people should be openly accepted as normal and a choice.  We disagree and nothing can convince me about it.

In life a man should be able to take a stand on issues affecting morality and how that can degenerate the morals of a society. I don’t see LGBT people and their behavior as anything moral that should be encouraged or endorsed with a recognition in a society such as ours.

We have all grown up with defined values that does not include this kind of behavior and Ghana as a country will never accept it.

The proponents of this law have done well and they should be recognized for their hard work. The good values of our country regarding family and sexuality should be protected, guarded, and defended at all costs.

We are not the same people everywhere. Whites are different from blacks in so many ways and our lifestyle in many ways also differ.

Even though we are all human beings the truth is we are not the same. Thus it cannot be that whatever some people in this world want to promote, we in Ghana must also do same.

Ghana will not accept LGBT and we would always defend our time tested values, culture and our beliefs.

We have read threatening messages from the USA and other Western countries about effects of the passage of this law on our economy.

You see let me say this. They would threaten because they think we are incapable of running our own affairs and that we would always rely on them.

But let me tell you and them that they are mistaken. Things are going to change and it is going to change very soon.

The human mind is the best of all of God’s creation. The ideas and the different ways to develop this country abounds. We need to move away from the usual way of doing things. Necessity is the mother of all inventions. Let’s be guided by it.

There are so many ways of killing a cat. North Korea is thriving despite thousands of sanctions. Russia is booming in its economy despite numerous sanctions.

We should not be afraid to do the right thing. Ghana will prevail and come out better. Our minds are fertile enough to generate ideas to develop Ghana beyond imagination.

We can develop through different ways and Ghana will prosper with or without their help. Ghana has enough capable hands to develop this country and we are coming.
