Deputy National Security Coordinator, Mr Edward Kwaku Asomani has urged all private security operators in the country to prioritize the welfare of their workers.

He said the management of these agencies must pay their workers well in order to prevent them from engaging in criminal activities.

Mr Asomani said these during the opening of the African Security Conference in Accra on Monday, August 1.

He also urged them to recognize the critical role that they play in safeguarding the security of the state.

“The onus lie on private security firms to also recognize the critical role they play in safeguarding the security of the state,” he said.

“Additionally, proper wages and condition of service must be instituted to boost morale of personnel so as to prevent them from yielding to the temptations of veering into criminal ventures,” he added.

For his part, a Former National Security Coordinator, Mr Francis Poku said the conference offers an opportunity to share ideas among the private security operators.

“A conference like this is an opportunity for you to share ideas and also develop the capacity to have the technology and also the training to update members and those that you bring into the industry to be able to help in the framework of the country’s national security,” he said.
