Prez Mahama declared winner of the 2012 Presidential Elections

A document chanced upon from the facebook page of the Electoral Commission by www.tv3network.com shows that President John Dramani Mahama, who is also the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has polled 50.70% of 10,995,262 total valid presidential votes cast, making him winner of the 2012 Presidential Elections.

The content of the document was confirmed by the Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan, to journalists on Sunday, December 9, 2012.

President Mahama polled 5,574,761 votes to get the earlier-mentioned percentage.

Close contender Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo polled 5,248,898 representing 47.74% of the total votes cast.

Progressive People’s Party’s Flagbearer Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom polled 64,362 votes, which represents 0.59%, to place third.

Dr. Henry Herbert Lartey of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) came fourth after he polled 38,223 votes (0.35%) as announced by Dr. Afari-Gyan.

People’s National Convention’s Hassan Ayariga’s 34,617 votes, which represent 0.22%, pegged him fifth in the presidential results.

Dr. Abu Sakara Forster of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) had 0.18%, which is a representation of 20,323 votes cast for the party.

Independent Candidate Jacob Osei Yeboah polled 15,201(0.14%) votes to come seventh while United Front Party’s Akwasi Addai Odike had 0.08% which is a representation of the 8,877 of votes he got.

The total rejected votes were 251,720 while voter turn-out was 79.43%
