The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the United Kingdom (UK) has dismissed reports that the branch has declared support for Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the November 4 Presidential Primary.

“The NPP UK Branch has not made an official declaration in support of any presidential candidate for the upcoming primaries,” a press release issued by the branch on Tuesday, October 10 said.

“The purported publication in question is a complete fabrication, intended to mislead the public and sow confusion and disunity within our Party,” the release signed by Branch Secretary Otuo Acheampong added.

It said the old letterhead of the Branch was forged and deceitfully used to mislead the public, stressing that there has not been any form of meeting directing or authorising the Branch to issue a communique to endorse any candidate.

It recounts the eve of the August 26 Special Delegates Conference when Dr Bawumia, like any other candidate, met delegates of the external branches at his campaign office.

It said it was a meeting for the Vice President to share his vision with the delegates.

The Branch says that all its 12 representatives to vote on Saturday, November 4 will “individually cast their votes in secrecy and wholeheartedly support whoever ultimately becomes the Party’s flagbearer”.

It, therefore, distanced itself from the “unfounded allegations claiming that NPP UK Branch has declared for Dr Bawumia and urge everyone to disregard the publication”.
