The three were among seven aspirants in Saturday’s presidential primary of the National Democratic Congress. Provisional results give Ghana’s immediate past president a commanding lead.

It will take perhaps a miracle for results to go otherwise. First to take to his official Facebook page a few hours after polls closed and counting had virtually been done, Dr Spio-Garbrah, who served under Mr Mahama as the Minister of Trades and Industry, sent him his congratulatory message. “Together, we win 2020.” Prof. Alabi also released a concession statement to congratulate Mr Mahama. “I have given him and the chairman of our party the highest assurance of my loyalty and support.” The Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) is expected to declare results by close of Saturday. Mr Mahama’s victory will see him lead the NDC for the third time into an election. His first – in 2012 – was successful but his second – in 2016 – was unsuccessful as he lost as an incumbent president. Source: 3news.com|Ghana  ]]>
