The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has scheduled Saturday, September 2 for a run-off between former Mampong Member of Parliament Francis Addai-Nimoh and former Energy Minister Boakye Kyeremanteng Agyarko.

Both candidates garnered nine votes in the Super Delegates Conference held on Saturday, August 26, putting them tie on Number 5.

The party was seeking to elect five out of 10 aspirants for the November 4 Presidential Primaries.

However, Mr Addai-Nimoh and Mr Agyarko could not be separated by the votes amassed after the exercise on Saturday.

Therefore, there is the need to be separated for one to join the first four for the November primaries.

“In any case, we had made all our regulations in totality looking at all relevant possibilities,” said Chair of the Elections Committee of the NPP Rev Prof Aaron Mike Oquaye.

“So, this is actually nothing new.”

So far, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen and Dr Afriyie Owusu Akoto are the four cleared for the next stage of selecting a flagbearer.
