New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant Kwabena Agyei Agyepong is beginning a second round of campaign on Thursday, August 3 ahead of the special congress of his party.

He is beginning in the Greater Accra Region before moving to the Volta and Oti regions.

Speaking on 3FM‘s Sunrise in an exclusive interview ahead of this second-round campaign, the former General Secretary of the NPP said he will only be meeting those who matter for the August 26 exercise because he is running on a “shoe-string budget”.

“I am starting my second round [campaign] this afternoon with Greater Accra,” he mentioned to host Johnnie Hughes.

“I will be meeting just the super delegates. Some of us are walking a very tight budget, shoe string budget, so we don’t have the luxury of meeting thousands of people,” he indicated.

The super delegates in the Greater Accra Region will constitute the 34 constituency chairmen, the regional representatives on the National Council and the living elders as well as the 17 regional executives.

“So, it is a reasonably small group and I intend to share my message,” the former Presidential Spokesperson said.

He also indicated that his will be a dialogue where he will start with his opening remarks and engage his audience in a Q&A session.

“So, if they have any issues, I can debunk, explain or clarify.”

The immediate past Executive Director of the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) is confident the delegates will choose the qualified five for the November 4 presidential primaries.

The special delegates’ conference, to be held across the 16 regions of Ghana despite a petition of some of the aspirants to have it centralised, will whittle down the flagbearer aspirants from 10 to five.

Mr Agyepong is no new aspirant in an NPP Presidential race as he was one of the legendary 17 who vied for the post in 2007.

He was the youngest, then.
