In a lower middle income status country like Ghana, where healthcare delivery and its attendant issues are largely contingent on central government and international aid agencies, it is always refreshing when individuals go out of their way to make material contributions in aid to the healthcare industry.

One such telling contribution is the donation of assorted medical equipment and health aid to the Frafraha Community Medical Centre, Adentan and the Association of People With Disabilities, Adenta Chapter by the parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the Adentan Constituency Akosua Manu (Kozie).

In a brief presentation ceremony at two separate events, one at Frafraha Community Health Centre and the other at the Adentan Municipal Assembly’s (AdMA) offices on the morning of 31st January, 2024, the parliamentary candidate handed over six (6) pieces of wheel chairs, seven (6) pieces of Zimmer Prime Walking Aid, twenty four (24) pieces of Walking Sticks, two hundred pieces (200) of Plastic Gowns, five (5) boxes of Wipes, twelve (12) pieces of Medication containers and ten (10) pieces of Scrubs.

In receiving the items, the Principal Medical Director of the health facility, Dr. Akua Asamoah was full of praise for the parliamentary candidate and pleaded with her to provide more such aid and partner the facility to deliver quality healthcare for the residents of Frafraha and its environs. On her part, Akosua Manu (Kozie) said, ”the health of every nation is its wealth”.

And pledged that more of such aid and support will characterize her tenure as MP when she wins the seat in the coming December 2024 Presidential and  Parliamentary polls. She spent time visiting the various departments of the health center interacting with the staff and patients alike.

At the office of AdMA, where Akosua Manu (Kozie) presented the health aid and undisclosed cash amount to the Disability Association members, she said, ”the donation was in response to the request received from the association in their meeting with her a few days earlier and for her, disability is not inability and that members of the association are a very important, largely talented untapped and underutilized pool of human resource capital of the nation”.

It is her vision therefore as MP, when she wins, to fully utilize this readily available resource to facilitate the social and economic development of the Adentan Constituency.

On his part, the representative of the association, Mr. Abban, expressed their profound gratitude to the parliamentary candidate and pledged to support her in whatever way possible to realize her dream in order for her plans for their association to see the light of day.

Kozie as Akosua Manu is affectionately called, spent the rest of the morning interacting with the members and listening to their concerns and needs. In attendance to support was the Adentan NPP Constituency Executives, Electoral Area Coordinators, Polling Station Executives and several grassroot party faithful.
