The National Communications Bureau of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called for the removal of the Municipal Chief Executive for Ejura from office with immediate effect.

Communications Director Sammy Gyamfi was addressing the media after he led a section of the party’s executive to Ejura to commiserate with affected families and also toured the Ejura enclave to ascertain the issue for first-hand information.

But later speaking on Akoma FM‘s current affairs and political show GhanAkoma, Sammy Gyamfi highlighted the heightening tension amidst surging insecurity in the country.

He, however, condemned the actions of the military and urged swift investigation to reveal the actual perpetrators.

He called for the head of the Ejura MCE, Salisu Bamba, over the bloody clashes in the municipality over the past days.

“We will call for the immediate removal of the MCE because he is the Chairman of the Municipal Security Council so if there has been breach in security then the MCE must be sacked,” he said, adding that “so many fingers have been pointed at the MCE alleging his involvement and the brain behind the bloody clash of the military and the rioting civilians”.

The NDC Communication Director also alleged that the MCE called in the military to face the protestors, leading to the death of three at Ejura.

Although President Nana Akufo-Addo has constituted a three-member committee to probe the bloody clashes, the NDC is proposing the immediate removal of the MCE to ensure independent, thorough, transparent probe.
