N/R Minister calls for clean campaign in orphan constituencies

Northern Region Minister Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu has urged supporters of aspirants seeking to lead the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in orphan constituencies in the region to campaign devoid of violence and insults.

According to him, the party’s resolve to ‘break the eight’ in the 2024 general elections will only be possible if they remain united.

The Minister made these remarks when he led a team to pick nomination forms for the 2020 Parliamentary Candidates for the Sagnarigu Constituency Felicia Tettey.

“Our resolve to break the eight and have more seats in parliament starts from this internal elections and that’s why I want us to keep the campaigns cool and devoid of insults, attacks or confusion.

“I know we have worked enough in all 18 constituencies across the region and can easily win more seats if we together.”

Commenting on the Sagnarigu cConstituency, the regional minister said Felicia Tettey is the best candidate to lead the NPP.

“The battle ahead is tough and Felicia Tetteh in the 2020 elections performed well and if we maintain her, she will win the seat for us.”

Sagnarigu Constituency is one of the nine orphan constituencies in the Northern Region.

The governing party is holding primaries to elect prospective candidates for the 2024 general elections.

In the 2020 general elections A.B.A. Fuseini of the NDC polled 34,989, representing 57.0%, to beat the NPP’s Felicia Tettey, who polled 26,434 43%.
