The Minority in Parliament is scheduled to meet the Accra Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service concerning the new notice served for a procession to the Bank of Ghana on Tuesday, September 12.

The meeting is expected to agree on the route for the procession.

This comes after the Command disagreed with the route of a similar notice for demonstration. That demonstration was originally scheduled to have been staged on Tuesday, September 5.

So far, no injunction notice has been served against next Tuesday’s demonstration, the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) told journalists on Friday, September 8.

“So, we are making preparations for the big day, which is Tuesday’s demonstration,” Sammy Gyamfi said.

“They have invited us to a meeting and our representatives will be meeting them this afternoon at 2:00pm.”

He was speaking after the High Court adjourned ruling on the affidavit filed in opposition to an injunction sought by the police against the first notice to demonstrate.

The adjournment follows a plea by the police to amend its writ after lead counsel of the respondents, Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, argued that the police cannot sue any body in the name of the Republic.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Eric Twum, granted the police’s request for seven days to amend the writ.
