Some constituents in the Adansi Asokwa constituency are campaigning their lawmaker Kobina Tahir Hammond who is also a former deputy energy minister in the erstwhile Kufour’s administration to be given the role of Trade and Industry Minister.

KT Hammond has been one of the defenders of the current administration in the wake of economic turmoil.

He chaired a committee that probed the conflict of interest leveled against the finance minister, Ken Ofori Atta however, the embattled minister escaped any wrongdoing.

In December, three-time flagbearer hopeful and the longest-serving trade and industry minister, Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng resigned to contest for the flagbearership slot of the ruling party.

Reports linking the Adansi Asokwa MP to the portfolio have heightened, although Jubilee House is yet to make any announcement.

Several reports of the president reshuffling his ministers have become a mirage.

However, some constituents believe the Adansi enclave is about to have a substantive minister.

“The many concerns of the people of Adansi is about to be addressed. The announcement of K.T. Hammond as a substantive minister will make him the first in Adansiman.

“As a legal practitioner, he stood as a proud descendant of Adansi and fought for the royalties belonging to Adansi Traditional Council which was locked up with the government to be released. These selfless acts of service won him the title ‘Adansiman Nkosoɔhene’ with no objection from his opponents” Chukwu Joseph told 3news.com

K.T Hammond has served as deputy energy and interior minister under the erstwhile president Kuffour’s administration and has been the Mp for Adansi Asokwa since 2000.

He is currently a member of the Committee of Mines and Energy in Parliament and also a Committee member of Finance in Parliament.
