Policeman, bank manager in Midland assault case granted bail

Madam Patience has received donations from individuals and companies.[/caption] The policeman in the infamous Midlands Savings and Loans assault case, Lance Corporal Godzi Frederick Amanor, has been granted bail by an Accra Circuit Court in the sum of 60,000 cedis with two sureties. The operations manager of the company, Joycelyn Kukua, customer care officer, Shirley Portia Anaman, and a driver of the company, who were also complicit in the case have also been granted bail on analogous terms. The court presided over by Mrs Jane Harriet Akweley Quaye directed that the sureties should not earn less than Ghȼ500. A video emerged on social media in July, showing a policeman beating up a woman who carried a baby at the premises of the headquarters of Midland Savings and Loans at Shiashe in Accra. The policeman and other staff of the bank were later picked up and arraigned. Lance Corporal Amanor was charged with assault while the three officers were charged with abetment. Prosecutor, DSP George Amegah in his submission to the court said Kukua called the police officer to drag the victim out when the victim called her for assistance. Portia Anaman according to prosecution took the video of the incident while Ayensu, the driver assisted the police officer to drag the victim out of the banking hall.
