Organised Labour is readying for a series of mass action against recent hikes in utility tariffs and the recently passed Energy Sector Levy Act.

Organised Labour has given government up to close of day Wednesday, January 13 to revert both decisions.

A press release last week outlined a roadmap which will see public sector workers wear red arm bands from Thursday, January 14 if government did not meet their demands.

Failure on the part of government to budge will also see nationwide demonstrations on Tuesday, January 19 and Wednesday, January 20.

A strike action has also been planned to pile pressure on government to reduce the tariffs.

But during his meeting with press on Tuesday, President John Dramani Mahama gave an indication that the hikes in tariffs and the new levies are inevitable as he does not take interest in handing down high taxes on citizens.
