The man, who is yet to be identified, was said to have pulled out a knife during a confusion at the Akwatia Lorry Station polling centre over claims that some non-NDC members have infiltrated the voters’ register.
A total of 8,058 members are voting to choose between incumbent Member of Parliament, Baba Jamal and Basil Ahiable to contest on the Party’s ticket in the December 2016 parliamentary polls.
The primary in the Constituency was suspended last year due to irregularities in the voters register which raised security concerns.
Just about 10 minutes into voting Tuesday, a lady was prevented from voting by one Jamal’s agent who claims the said lady is an NPP member but another Mr. Ahiable’s agent challenged that claim resulting in a confusion, TV3’s Yvonne Neequaye reports.
The confusion led to a temporary hold up of voting but the EC officials at the polling centre intervened before voting resumed, she said, adding “the argument was that once her name is in the register, it meant she had been cleared to vote”
She further reported that there were skirmishes at the Kwamekuma Yoruba mosque also due to some disagreement over some names in the register who they perceive to be non-members of the Party.

“People are around the polling station who are not necessarily voting or have finished voting are standing by to figure out people they believe are not part of the party,” Yvonne reports
Meanwhile, the number of polling centres have been increased from 21 to 22 to ensure people have easy access the polling
