Leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has asserted that the eight-year tenure of his party has given Ghana the most valuable assets more than any other government in the 4th Republic.

He said that feat may even traverse those of past governments since independence.

Nana Addo made this assertion on Wednesday, November 4 while addressing members of the Tertiary Education Students Confederation (TESCON) at the University of Ghana.

The student wing of the NPP was marking its 15th anniversary.

“You have every reason to be proud of the party that you belong to because we have a track record that is better than any in the Fourth Republic, if not, the entire history of Ghana,” Nana Addo told members of TESCON.

He also expressed hope that Ghana will be put back to work if the NPP reclaims power in 2016.

“We have the vision and programmes to put Ghana back to work. And, most of all, we have the people, the skills, the commitment and the leadership to turn your dreams into what you want to be.”

He said the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) government has turned Ghana’s progress in the opposite direction to the extent that foreigners have been left in bewilderment regarding Ghana’s fortunes.

“The world just doesn’t understand what is happening to Ghana. Everywhere I went last month, in Europe, in the United States and in Canada, the same question was being asked: what went wrong? What happened to Ghana, the poster boy in ‘Africa’s Rising’ narrative at the end of Kufuor’s tenure?”

He, therefore, appealed to the thousands who trooped to the Mensah Sarbah Hall on Wednesday to join in becoming part of “the generation of the transformation of Ghana” in 2016.
