The constituency election of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) which was held on May 4 at Fomena in the Ashanti Region may be declared null and void.

This comes after a member of the legal committee of the governing party, Gary Nimako Marfo has told TV3 that his he is unaware of the elections.

“If any election has been conducted at that place, to the best of my knowledge, I am not aware, what I am aware is that I was in court and an injunction application has been put before the judge which I was informed in the court room” he said.

Fomena constituency office of the NPP has had to grapple with internal wranglings since 2020 when the 2nd Deputy Speaker broke away and went solo.

Andrews Asiamah won as an independent candidate but, now supporting his mother party in Parliament.

Former constituency chairman, Akwasi Nti was forced to resign after failing to win the Fomena seat for the NPP parliamentary candidate during the 2020 elections.

Henry Kwabena Kokofu, former Member of Parliament for Bantama who was sent to reorganise the party’s base and prepare the constituency for the polling station level election could do little to salvage the already deteriorating internal conflict within the Fomena NPP.
