The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is mourning one of its stalwarts, Madam Bame Ama Busia.

The party said it received with sadness and disbelief news of the passing of Madam Ama Busia which occurred on Tuesday, December 12, 2023.

The late Madam Ama Busia was a sister to former Prime Minister, Kofi Abrefa Busia, under the Second Republic and Founding Member of the Party’s political tradition. She served as the National First Vice Chairperson of the NPP. She was, until her passing, a long-standing member of the party’s National Council of Elders.

The late distinguished stateswoman and former member of the Council of State was an embodiment of humility, hard work, and selfless service to the NPP and the nation at large.

“The Party extends its heartfelt condolences to the Busia family and also commiserates with the rest of the nation for the painful loss of this illustrious citizen of our land.

“In honour of her memory, the NPP directs that all party flags in its offices across the country be flown at half-mast for the next seven days.

“May the soul of our dearly departed find comfort in God’s bosom, and may the family she left behind and, indeed, all of us in the Party and beyond find fortitude to bear this great loss,” a statement issued by National Chairman, Stephen Ayesu Ntim, said.
