The New Patriotic Party parliamentary candidate for Ofoase Ayirebi has condemned the superimposition of an aspiring NDC parliamentary candidate in one of his campaign posters, describing it as “plagiarism”.

In the said poster, Mr Oppong Nkrumah’s head has been replaced with that of the aspiring NDC candidate in Bibiani Ahwiaso Bekwai constituency, Mr Moses Karmah, and replaced the NPP logo with that of the NDC.

Mr Oppong Nkrumah’s campaign team has consequently noted it will not hesitate to take all necessary steps to protect the copyrights inherent in their candidate and the NPP’s communication materials.

A statement issued by Mr Oppong Nkrumah’s campaign team Friday afternoon said “the totality of the modifications to the poster and the attempt to make it appear as the work of the NDC candidate is an act of plagiarism which must be condemned”.

“While we are flattered that our communication materials are attractive to the NDC campaigners, we implore the candidate and his team to develop their own original materials and utilise for their campaign,” it added.

The statement said, the campaign team of Mr karmah also copied Mr Oppong Nkrumah’s taglines and values in a bid to market their candidate in a manner akin to how Mr Nkrumah was marketed in the NPP primaries.

“Politics should be about truth and values and not fabrications,” the statement added.
