The New Patriotic Party has stated that its flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, performed better that President John Dramani Mahama, who is also National Democratic Congress, at the Institute of Economic Affairs’ Presidential Debate.

In a statement signed by Deputy Communications Director Perry Okudzeto, the Party claimed that from the economy to education, healthcare to national debt, private sector and industrialization, Nana Akufo-Addo clearly outlined his policy, visions and plans for Ghana.

The statement noted President Mahama beat the retreat on the Free Senior High School Campaign by stating that “I am for free secondary education”, which is a clear departure from his earlier stance.

This move by the President, the statement explained, was necessitated by the fact that speaker after speaker spoke in favour of providing free quality education for all school-going children.

As regards the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), the NPP said, Nana Addo’s proposition to make his Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the head of the Commission in order to give it political leadership was spot on.

The statement said, Nana Addo exposed President Mahama by reminding him of what the NDC’s position on the NDPC is, as contained in its 2008 manifesto recalling the NDC in 2008 promised to locate the NDPC to the office of the President.
