Deputy Minority Leader Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah has criticised the ministerial changes made by President Akuffo-Addo, indicating that the newly appointed ministers have barely 10 months to have any meaningful impact on the Akuffo-Addo government.

He, therefore, described the reshuffle by the President as “dead on arrival.” This, he said, is because it has been long overdue.

The former energy minister was speaking on the floor of Parliament following the ministerial changes made by President Akuffo-Addo and presented to the Speaker.

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has since referred the president’s reshuffled list to the appointments committee of the house.

“The people of Ghana have called on this President in the last seven years when it became obvious that some of his ministers were really not performing. It went to the extent that even the majority members of parliament insisted and held a press conference for the President to make these changes,” said Mr. Armah Buah.

Ministerial reshuffle

According to Mr. Armah Buah, the president ignored the calls by the majority MPs to make changes in his cabinet, leading to the economic crisis facing the country.

“It is obvious that the president refused until the boat capsised. Mr Speaker, it is clear that this has come a little too late,” he said, adding, “For 10 months left, these new ministers might not have the opportunity to settle down and make any impact.”

“So, Mr. Speaker, all I have to say is that these changes are simply dead on arrival,” the Ellembele lawmaker stressed.

Ministerial reshuffle

But rebutting the comments by the minority MP, the Majority Chief Whip and MP for Nsawam/Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, urged the NDC MP to ensure that the NDC flagbearer unveils his policies to Ghanaians.

“To reshuffle or not to reshuffle the cabinet, is in the blossom of the President, which is backed by the constitution. I would rather advise my colleague to let his flagbearer focus on churning out an appealing message,” he stated.
