Prince Teye will spend the next 3 years in jail[/caption] A 29- year-old man who published nude photographs of his ex-girlfriend on social media platforms has been handed a three-year jail term by the Odumase Krobo Circuit Court in the Eastern Region. Though Prince Teye denied the charge of publication of obscene materials, he was found guilty after full trial on July 3 by the court presided over by Mr F.Y. Gbeddy. His accomplices, Bismark Amuzu and Raphael Lawer Raphael, both 21 years, who were charged with abetment of crime, were however acquitted and discharged. Prince was said to have had sexual intercourse with the 22-year-old victim (name withheld), a former student of the Yilo Krobo Senior High School, recorded and took pictures of the act with his mobile phone. The three were picked up following a report filed by the girl’s parents. They were subsequently arraigned for intentionally and unlawfully publishing obscene pictures of the complainant. Police prosecutors led by DSP Richmond Akwasi Yeboah told the court that the complainant is a resident at Salosi, a suburb of Somanya. Teye is a trader and was the boyfriend to the complainant, while Amuzu, and Lawer were Sim card vendor and student respectively, all resided at Somanya. The prosecutors said in February 2017, Teye and the complainant had sexual intercourse in Teye‘s room and in the process. Teye was said to have taken the photographs and a video recording of the act. The complainant though agreed to the taking of the pictures, she however warned Teye not to show it to anybody else. According to the prosecutors, sometime later, the complainant was at home when her cousin and his friend brought her the naked pictures that Teye took, claiming they saw same on Facebook. The complaint confronted Teye who claimed he mistakenly sent the photographs to Amuzu. A report was subsequently made to the police and the accused persons were arrested for investigations. During investigations, Teye told the police that he mistakenly sent the pictures to Amuzu, claiming when the pictures were sent, the phone was with Lawer but when the phone was brought to him he saved the pictures in his Apps lock. Lawer claimed in his statement to the police that the pictures came to the phone at 11: 30pm but he gave the phone to Amuzu the next morning.
