Go for 1,000-seater chamber rather, Mornah taunts Parliament

He described the decision as “meaningless” and a misplaced priority. “They should [rather] be thinking about sending resources to their constituencies.” He was commenting on a proposal by the Parliamentary Service Board to have a 450-seater chamber for Parliament. He was speaking on TV3’s Midday Live on Thursday, July 4. Among reasons adduced for the proposal is the fact that the current 275-seater is too small. [caption id="attachment_120209" align="alignnone" width="1000"] The 275-seater Parliament of Ghana[/caption] “Why don’t you make it a 1,000-seater for our present conditions?” Mr Mornah, who contested the Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency seat in the 2016 elections, said. He stressed that even the current number of parliamentarians is too much for Ghana and he did not agree with the expansion from the initial 200 to 230, and then to 275. “This is a very meaningless construction of edifice.” Meanwhile, Parliament has indicated that the reports of a new chamber are just on paper and that the project is just a proposal.
