Long may the Fourth Republic flourish, Akufo-Addo declares

Credit for ‘ordinary’ Ghanaians Though acknowledging the political party players especially the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) and religious activists in ushering in the current republic, the president said credit must go to the Ghanaian. “But today’s celebration of our role is to the great credit of the Ghanaian people, the ordinary men and women who make up the fabric of the Ghanaian nation.” He said they resolved to embrace a new dispensation in peace and reconciliation to berth the Fourth Republic. He said that started it all and “together we are laying the platform for the evolution of a new Ghanaian civilisation which will give true meaning to the foundational values of freedom and justice on which our nation was conceived. “Long live the Fourth Republic.
