Kasoa cop killers remanded over murder charges

Eric Kojo Duah is the key suspect in the murder case[/caption] Police prosecutors have slapped murder charges on seven persons accused of killing two police officers last week at Kasoa in the Central Region. The seven, including the key suspect in the shooting incident Eric Kojo Duah, who were put before the Kaneshie District Court Monday, are facing additional charges of conspiracy and abetment of crime. The lower court is expected to determine whether there is sufficient evidence to require the prosecution of the suspects and accordingly commit them to stand trial at the High Court. The suspects whose name were given as Eric Duah, Isaac Amissah, Ibrahim Zakari, Isaac Mensah, Oblitey Commey, Atta Amoah, and Victor Aryee appeared before the lower court without any legal representation. Prosecutors informed the court that investigations into the August 28 shooting of the two police officers has just commenced hence prayed for their remand to enable investigators have access to them. Following the submission by the police prosecutors, the court remanded Eric Duah and two others into BNI custody while the other suspects have been remanded into a prison facility under the care of Police CID. The suspects are to appear again in court on September 26 by which time investigations are expected to have concluded. Lance Cpl Mohammed Awal Sergeant Michael Djamesi of the Kasoa MTTD were shot dead in line of duty last Wednesday afternoon by some four suspected highway robbers at Budumburam, near Kasoa in the Central Region. Three of them were arrested few hours after the incident while the key suspect, Eric Duah, was declared wanted by the Police.
