John Kudalaor has also cautioned personnel to desist from acting or passing comments that would make them look political.
The Acting IGP made these known on Friday, November 27 while addressing regional commanders at the maiden “Commanders Conference” in Accra.
The political desks, according to IGP Kudalor, would report to the head office and design strategies to curb and foil political violence.
“The political desks should be manned by senior police officers capable of analyzing political trends within the regions in making objective recommendations.”
The IGP cautioned against growing indiscipline among officers which he says threatens to tear the police apart, charging them to be apolitical at all times.
He admitted that officers will be exercising their franchise next year but that should not be an excuse to involve in active politics.
“To this end, commanders should not hesitate to institute disciplinary action against personnel whose activities in their regard undermine our efforts to remain above reproach.”
The political desks will be run 24 hours.
