The National Democratic Congress (NDC) will see to a gradual and steady approach to solving challenges in the education sector by widening universal access, Vice President Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur has intimated.
He also said that government will build more schools to replace ‘schools under trees’ in order to boost quality and accessibility.
The running mate of John Dramani Mahama made these pronouncements on the first day of three-day campaign tour of his home region – Central Region.
He first called on the descendants of Casely-Hayford – a Gold Coast nationalist – at Kotokuraba.
Members of the family pledged their unflinching support for the vice president and his party.
Mr Amissah-Arthur and his team later attended a durbar at Moree, where he assured party supporters of the hope in the ‘Better Ghana Agenda’.
Plans have already been put in place to build landing sites along the coast of the country to boost the fishing industry, Mr Amissah-Arthur disclosed.
Mr Amissah-Arthur also paid a courtesy call on chiefs and elders in Abura Danquah.
During the ensuing interaction, the chief of the area, Nana Osam Kwesi challenged Vice President Amissah-Arthur to bring more development to the people.
The vice president was in the Aburaman Senior High School, where he inaugurated an 18-unit classroom block.
The project was sponsored by the Ghana Education Trust Fund to facilitate learning and ease congestion.
