GRA is expected to give clarity on the policy on Monday, October 15[/caption] Government has decided to suspend the implementation of the Cargo Tracking Note (CTN) policy following uproar by importers, 3news.com can confirm. A high-placed source says the scheduled implementation will be on a later date. The controversial CTN was scheduled to come into force on Monday, October 15. All shipments to Ghana or with Ghana as the destination were to be covered by a CTN number, according to a notice from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA). “Goods imported into the country without the CTN, as required, would not be processed by Customs for clearance until the CTN number is provided, except where a special dispensation had been granted,” GRA had stated. But 3news.com gathers government has heeded to calls from traders, in general, to stay the implementation of the policy. There will be no conditions whatsoever as to quotas, code, exemption and registration, the source indicated. Business goes on as usual, it added. Before this, GRA was sued by a freight forwarder, John Kwame Adu Jack, over the implementation of the policy. The Commissioner General of GRA, Emmanuel Kofi Nti, is expected to brief the media on Monday on the latest development and the next line of action. Source: 3news.com|Ghana]]>
