Pensioner bondholders have resumed picketing the Ministry of Finance in Accra.

This is to register their displeasure over the nonpayment of some six outstanding coupons on their investments.

The bondholders told TV3’s Judith Awortwe-Tandoh on Thursday, June 22 that the nonpayment is getting them frustrated hence the picketing.

Convener of the Pensioner Bondholders Forum Dr Adu Anane Antwi said “The June one hasn’t started and one was on the 5th of June.

“The Ministry of Finance told us that the government has instructed the Controller and Accountant General to prioritize the payment of our coupons which meant that as soon as the coupons were due Controller should make money available for the payment.

“So we were comforted and for two weeks we decided not to be here to wait to see what was going to happen. The coupons that they were being paid were paid and then the principals also were paid but it remained the June coupon, we waited to see whether as has been promised that it will be prioritised, but we didn’t receive it ”

One of the bondholders also said “The message for the diasporans is don’t come, don’t give your money, they will bring you here and chop your money, don’t come to Ghana.

“I have quite a few dependents, one of them has chronic kidney disease stage 3  but we can’t even afford to go and do a lab test for her, we can’t buy medications. One of the medicines has jumped from GHS400 Cedis to GHS800, we can’t buy it anymore.”
