But he insists that the decision will be contingent upon negotiations between leadership of JUSAG and government.
“[On Tuesday] you will be satisfied that the wheels of administration of justice will run and run effectively,” the Employment Minister told journalists on Monday, May 30, “subject to what happens at the committee which is to engage further with the leadership of JUSAG on the basis of some advice from the Judicial Council itself and government.”
Government’s negotiation team is led by Deputy Minister of Finance Cassiel Ato Forson and Mr Iddrisu’s Deputy, Baba Jamal.
Negotiations are set to resume on Wednesday, June 1, when further instruction on the way forward would have been received from President John Dramani Mahama.
“The government negotiating team led by Hon Ato Forson and Hon Baba Jamal is holding themselves in readiness for further consultation, discussions and clarifications on the referral to the president and the subsequent referral to the government negotiating team.”
JUSAG began the strike action on Friday, May 20. Members are demanding consolidated salaries, a grievance they claim has been on government’s negotiating table since last year.
A two-hour meeting on Monday failed to yield a positive outcome.
Mr Iddrisu has hinted of plans to categorise JUSAG members as essential workers, thus stopping them from embarking on future strikes.
