Four public figures have been honoured with ‘Special Awards’ by the University of Cape Coast Students’ Representative Council at the 2018 Presidential Ball.
They were recognised for their individual contributions towards students’ affairs.
Second lady Samira Bawumia and musician Akosua Agyapong were honoured for their exceptional advocates for women empowerment, challenging female students in the university to strive for excellence, the SRC says.
Award winning raggae-dancehall artiste Samini was honoured for his participation in SRC activities and for being a motivation for upcoming musicians on campus.
Media General surfaced as three of its subsidiaries took three separate recognitions at the event.
While TV3 was honoured for championing students interest with its reportages from the Central Region, it’s broadcast journalist and law student at the university, Spencer Kwabena Boateng Mensah was also honoured for inspiring the students populace with his disability advocacy, and news reports.
After his participation in Talented Kidz, Christian Morgan has been influential in the university disability projects serving as an inspiration to many on campus, and was given Special Award for that.
Others who were honoured include the outgone SRC Vice president Miss Grace Naa Korkoi, PRO VC Special Award, UCC Speaker of House of Parliament Awotunde Awosika – VC’S Special Award, UCC Debate Society President Mr Caleb Otabil – Dean’s Choice Award.
Other exceptional past & current students, individuals and organisations were also honoured with different recognitions for various reasons.
