Apologise to Otumfuo or face our wrath – Kumasi youth threaten NPP bigwigs

Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II[/caption] A group calling itself Kumasi Youth Association has given Gabby Asare Otchere Darko and Nana Asante Bediatuo, a three week ultimatum to apologize for insulting the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu or face their wrath. According to the group, Otumfuo is above partisan politics and for that matter politicians should desist from associating him with partisan politics. “The Asante kingdom has existed in glory for ages, and we will never sacrifice our identity and heritage for the interest of politicians who seek to malign our kingdom,” General Secretary of KUYA, Kwabena Frimpong said. Last week, the Asantehene in an open fury chastised Gabby Otchere Darko and Nana Asante Bediatuo for allegedly trying to work against the King from the Jubilee House. Some NPP supporters and leaders, including the Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah and Acting General Secretary John Boadu who had gone to the Manhyia Palace to pay homage on Awukudae had to go on their knees to beg for clemency However, their gesture did not end the issue. The Kumasi Youth Association, (KUYA), has expressed its displeasure with Gabby Otchere Darko and some other government appointees who have taken to social media to comment on the fury of the Asantehene. “We are by this release, advising Gabby Otchere Darko and co to immediately seek wise counsel before the gods destroy him,” KUYA General Secretary noted. The group also bemoaned the seeming insults rained on the golden stool by Gabby and Deputy MASLOC Director, Afia Akoto and Deputy Director of the National Service Secretariat, Gifty Oware. Addressing the media in Kumasi, leadership of KUYA draped in red bands demanded an official apology from all the persons who have offended the golden stool General Secretary of KUYA, Kwabena Frimpong explained that customs demands the named persons go to the Manhyia Palace to render an apology. For them, those who have offended the golden stool have three weeks to apologize to the King or they will be regarded as persona non grata.
