St. Peter’s Senior High Secondary have reclaimed the National Science and Maths Quiz after 13 years as they beat West Africa Senior High School and Adisadel College to the 2018 crown on Thursday. The highly electrifying contest at the National Theatre saw the Nkwatia-based school win on the penultimate riddle to snatch a win from WASS. Surprisingly, second runners-up Adisadel College, who have won one title in thier last four final appearances, led from Round One till Round Four, where WASS took over. [caption id="attachment_90649" align="aligncenter" width="810"] Some disappointment fans of Adisco[/caption] With 22 points in the first round, Adisco amassed three more points in the second round and four out of 10 points in the Problem of the Day to lift hopes of exorcising the spirit of last year’s loss to Prempeh and St Thomas Aquinas. But WASS’s performance in the popular ‘True or False’ section sent them straight on top. It was going to be a history-making win for the Adenta-based side, who had ousted the champions at the semi-final stage. But they were undone by the riddles, though answering the first one correctly. Persco picked the second and third to leapfrog the Greater Accra Region side. WASS would have become the second mixed school after Achimota School to have lifted the trophy if they had won today’s fierce contest. Again, a win for them would have made them second school to Day school after St. Thomas Aquinas to have won the trophy. By their win, the Eastern Region side takes home a total of GHC70,000 among scholarships for the contestants. WASS go home with a total of GHC50,000. ADISCO got GHC40,000 for coming third. Sandema SHS was rewarded for their outstanding performance as a less-endowed school. By Emmanuel Kwame Amo|3news.com|Ghana]]>
