NAFCO supports girls’ empowerment, donates to FOHGSHS

A number individuals and organizations continue to lend financial and material supports towards the holding of Summer Camp for Girls in Female Senior High Schools in the country, with the latest being the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO). NAFCO has presented an amount of ten thousand six hundred and sixty-two Ghana Cedis (GHC 10,662.00) to the Forum of Heads of Girls’ Senior High Schools (FOHGSHS), organizers of the Camp meetings. Additionally, NAFCO handed over assorted food items to be used to feed students who will be taking part in this year’s camping. The donations follow an appeal by FOHGSHS. Speaking at a brief presentation ceremony at Aburi in the Eastern Region, Corporate Affairs Manager of NAFCO, Mr. Emmanuel J.K Arthur said the gesture was to demonstrate NAFCO’s commitment to the empowerment of girls to prepare them for the future. “As you may be aware, our CEO, Mr. Hanan Abdul-Wahab is passionate about education and particularly the education of the girl-child, and it is the reason for which he directed this support towards your endeavor”, he said. The items were received on behalf of FOHGSHS by the Assistant Headmistress of Aburi Girls Senior High School, Mrs. Bernice Mensah-Akutteh. She commended NAFCO for what she described as a kind donation. The Forum of Heads of Girls’ Senior High Schools (FOHGSHS) is an organization that champions the empowerment of the girl-child. It is made up of Heads of all female Senior High Schools in the country. This year’s camp meetings takes place from 14th-20th July, 2019 at Aburi Girls Senior High School in the Eastern Region and expected to be attended by 650 female students nationwide.
